- Abstract
This submission aims to explore the challenges and benefits for Wikipedia/ Wikiversity in India. From infrastructure challenges like internet penetration, education standards to cultural challenges like language barriers and collaboration in creation, the presentation seeks to highlight the key metrics of what are the barriers to larger adoption of Wiki initiatives in India. Additionally, it seeks to explore the benefits of ‘free knowledge´ for a country like India where the relevance to study western education while documenting its own traditional knowledge both pose tremendous benefits given the significant size of its knowledge-starved human capital (coupled with its demographic dividend).
