- Abstract
- Semantic MediaWiki is an extension to MediaWiki that lets you store text as data that can be queried. It's also a revolutionary tool that allows for generating collaborative data in a simple and flexible way. SMW has its own user and developer community, and its own website, mailing lists, and conference. It's used by communities, corporations, and government agencies around the world, and it provided much of the inspiration, and some of the personnel, behind the Wikidata project. We'll go over SMW and its related extensions, and if there's time the session will include a hands-on element as well.
