Welcome to the IdeaLab Brainstorm! Got an idea for a project to improve Wikimedia? Want feedback or help turning ideas into grant proposals? Got skills or ideas to share with other projects? Come brainstorm with us!

What is an IdeaLab Brainstorm?

IdeaLab is an incubator on Meta-wiki for people to share ideas to improve Wikimedia projects, websites, and communities. We're connecting people and ideas on-wiki to collaboratively develop new project plans and, in some cases, grant proposals to support those projects to completion.

During this brainstorm session, we'll be doing the same thing, in-person. Come spend a few hours creating, improving, and discussing ideas for new community projects together!

Who should come?

YOU! Everyone is invited to bring their ideas and skills to this session.

You might be a:

  • Big dreamer
  • Details focuser
  • Writer
  • Designer
  • Community organizer
  • Project planner
  • Developer
  • Prospective Individual Engagement or Project and Events Grantee
  • Generally awesome Wikimedia volunteer
  • Or, whoever you are, your ideas will be welcome!

Why should you come?

Brainstormers will:

  • create new ideas for IdeaLab
  • improve existing ideas
  • meet other people and build project teams to turn ideas into actionable projects
  • share tips and tricks for piloting and running on-wiki experiments
  • get help turning ideas into grant proposals
  • have ridiculous amounts of fun and be amused by playful surprises

What to bring?

  • Ideas!
  • Enthusiasm and your most fun self
  • Questions you're trying to answer for your community, problems you're trying to solve for your project
  • Any skills or help you care to offer other participants

When and where?

Thursday, August 8th 2013, at Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Rm M103, from 11:30-15:30.

This will be a drop-in event, which means please come as soon as you can, and stay as long as you like!
