WikiTV is a project to add quality videos to Wikimedia Commons. Various sources feed WikiTV: Collaboration with public broadcasters generating free video footage, recording Wikimedia events, short educational clips for Wikipedia or video discussions. This workshop presents these aspects of WikiTV and invites you to participate.
- Detailed proposal
This workshop is intended for all Wikimedians interested in producing video content. We are also looking forward seeing video professionals or other people who already have gathered some experience in producing videos or who have collaborated with video projects, for an exchange of experiences and knowledge.
The plan is to bring some video equipment to Wikimania and show it to the workshop participants, show some video clips we have already produced as examples and to discuss different scenarios:
- documentation of Wikimedia events - filming talks - video livestreams
- documenting Wikimedia projects or committees - interviews with involved people - automatic subtitles / translations on Wikimedia Commons (TimedText namespace)
- videoconferencing with open source tools - BigBlueButton instance hosted by Wikimedia CH for the Wikimedia Chapters Association - special equipment for videoconferencing setup (USB soundcard, boundary layer microphone, camera w/ DV output)
- creating encyclopedic content - enrich articles with videos - interviews with experts and contemporary witnesses
- post-processing - cutting with kdenlive, title strips, credits, inserts - conversion / video formats - upload
