"There is so much potential for cultural organizations to utilize Wikipedia to address many facets of their mission; often it just takes pointing it out."

About me

I'm an Indianapolis-based museum studies graduate student, mom, and GLAM-Wikimedian. I am very interested in museum-Wikipedia partnerships and I have been active in the GLAM-Wiki community for the past two years.

I've recently been researching the role of Wikipedia in museum settings, combining my background in social studies education with my work in museum studies and museum technology. Through this work I'm considering such things as accessibility, museum education, and 21st century technology skills in museum programming and the sharing of collections information with a broader audience.

My work

Throughout 2012 I will be serving as the United States Cultural Partnerships Coordinator for the Wikimedia Foundation. In this role I'm working with the Wikimedia community to establish a streamlined infrastructure for US cultural institutions to connect with and collaborate with Wikimedia.

I am pursuing a career in museum technology with an interest in collections management, social media, and the digital humanities. In addition to my work for the Wikimedia Foundation, I work for The Children's Museum of Indianapolis as their Wikipedian in Residence and as a web content specialist.
