Have you considered using cards for the in-room audience, as done at WMCON 2013? Summarising and selecting them can be hard, so you may want to avoid the former and deleate the latter to some moderator, and/or to let people also ask questions directly, but it should help with shy attendants etc. --Nemo 13:35, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- We did that last year, in 2012, following their very successful use at the Paris finance meeting for the same purpose. It did not seem to work as well in a larger audience, where not everyone was aware of what was going on. And (though it's always a problem with shy attendees, people who ask off-topic questions, etc.), it breaks the session up to have people in the audience stand up. So I thought this year we would try a mix of both -- questions from the audience, and questions from the wiki. If anonymity is a concern, you don't have to sign questions here. -- Phoebe (talk) 15:07, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, it makes sense but let me understand a bit better. What do you mean "have people in the audience stand up"? If it's for cards, of course that should be arranged and advertised in advance, collecting cards during the session is a nightmare; if it's for people asking directly via mic, I doubt it can be avoided (though also moving mics and so on is time-consuming and inefficient in big rooms). --Nemo 15:32, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, I meant "stand up to ask questions with the mic" :) -- Phoebe (talk) 15:33, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
