Edit this exhibition - traveling ship version

A science exhibition traveling Germany and Austria on a ship next year is inviting ideas and suggestions from the Wikimedia community, as described here. It would be nice to coordinate these two efforts. --Daniel Mietchen (talk) 07:54, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

The exhibition format can be a very relevant interface to browse Wikipedia offline and to allow people to relate to it in a different way. In particular I think it can really bring people to get a general sense of it (entering a different world), instead of access it in the most common way, which is based on page-by-page views. I personally believe that Wikipedia should be presented in a way that allows people to understand that it is the world we all live in (not like a different planet where Wikipedians/Wikimedians live in): it can strengthen the sense of Wikipedia as a personal-individual responsibility. I think the way the exhibition is constructed should reflect Wikipedia also in the methodology; I appreciated the organization of the working sessions to plan this expo. Considering the way it was built I think open content should be part of outcomes. I am also very curious to better understand how WMF will support the use of the brand and the license clearing.
