Apps are the bookmarks of the mobile world. They provide quick and simplified access to your favorite content and contributions across many of the internets best projects. The mobile department and its app team have been working aggressively to provide our power users with simple but powerful mobile upload tools to contribute photos to Commons. Come hear about our successes, failures, and future plans.

Detailed proposal

Through activities like Wiki Loves Monuments and our Commons Android and iOS app the Wikimedia Foundation has built mobile tools that simplify the upload process for our editors. We've significantly contributed to our annual 1,000 uploads / month goal and we've streamlined the commons contribution process to be as familiar as possible for our Commons and iOS users. Our apps have been downloaded by ten's of thousands of users allowing us to iteratively learn what those users need most.

But this is just the beginning. We'd like to not only add the ability to contribute new media types like video and audio but also focus on sustainable high quality contributions.
